Who qualifies

Veterans (or surviving spouses) receiving VA Pension who need help with bathing, dressing, eating, transferring, or who are bedridden / in assisted living / in a nursing home.

What you get

Adds up to about $912/month for veterans (single), or $586/month for surviving spouses, on top of base VA pension.

Tips that matter

This is one of the most underused VA benefits. Can pay for assisted living, in-home aides, or family caregivers (in many cases adult children).

How to apply

Submit VA Form 21-2680 along with your pension application via va.gov/pension/aid-attendance-housebound.
